Tundra Swans
The scientific name for the tundra swan is cygnus
columbianus. The tundra swan is the smallest American
swan. Tundra swans have white plumage, black bills
and a yellow spot in front of the eye.
The tundra swan is found in North America. Tundra
swans eat aquatic plants and small mollusks.
Tundra swans build their nest from mounds of
leaves and grass. They lay 2-7 eggs, after 32
days the eggs hatch.
The young swans will often leave their nest but
they stay with their parents until spring. Younger
trumpeter swans have a pinkish bill and gray-brown
